  What is VOC

  VOCs are volatile organic compounds that are active and can cause harm. These volatile compounds are organic compounds. They can exist as vapor in the air at room temperature. VOC emissions are harmful to the environment and human health. Environments with high VOC levels may cause discomfort, such as headaches or shortness of breath. In addition, environments with high VOC levels may also lead to long-term health problems, such as respiratory diseases and cancer.

  VOC testing is divided into three standards: European standard, national standard, French/German standard.

  European standard volatile phenol test steps:

  1. The sample should be soaked in water at a temperature of 60±2℃ for 10±0.5 minutes to remove excess water. Before testing, the sample was cooled to room temperature in a dryer for 24±1 hours.
  2. 2.Pre-heat the container.The sample should be baked in the oven at 100±5℃ for 1 hour, then dry in the dryer for 1 hour, and extract the sample for weighing (weight A value):
  3. 3.Sample 1*2cm, about 10g sample into the container, and then put into a 100±5℃ and fresh air into the drying furnace to bake for 1 hour, and finally put into the dryer for 2 hours after drying weigh (weight B value):
  4. 4.Finally, put the container and sample into a 200±5℃ oven for 4 hours, and then dry in a dryer for 2 hours, and extract the sample for weighing (weight C value):5 V0C content calculation : (B-C)/(B-A)*100%

  France/Germany Volatile Phenol test steps:

  1.Sample extraction: 1*1cm in the French standard, 1*2cm in the German standard, about 10g of the sample, putthe sample into the dryer to dry for 48 hours and weigh (A value)

  Note: the sample in Germany is 1*2cm.

  2.Then put the sample into a 200±5℃ oven for 4 hours, and then dry in a dryer for 4 hours, and extract the sample for weighing (weight B value).

  3.VOC content calculation : (A-B)/A*100%

    National standard volatile phenol test steps:

  1. Sample 1*1cm (about 10g) was extracted and put into A dryer to dry for 48 hours before weighing (A value);

  2.Then put the sample into a 200±5℃ oven for 4 hours, and then dry in a dryer for 2 hours, and extract the sample for weighing (B value).

  3. VOC content calculation : (A-B)/A*100%

  Each product is sampled three sets of data, the average VOC of each set of data is lower than 0.40%, and the test result of any sample is higher than 0.40%, the batch of products are unqualified products.
